About the Artists

Following his First Prize triumph at the 2018 Queen Elisabeth Competition, Samuel Hasselhorn is quickly establishing himself as a multifaceted artist, on the international level, who is at home equally in the genres of opera, Lied, and oratorio. Recently the Franz Schubert Association Barcelona awarded their first Schubert prize in 2021 to Samuel Hasselhorn and Alfred Brendel. In addition, Samuel will make his house debut at the Teatro alla Scala in Milano in April and May 2022.

Ammiel Bushakevitz is internationally acclaimed as one of the notable young pianists of his generation. He studied in Berlin, Leipzig and Paris under Pierre-Laurent Aimard, Helmut Deutsch and Alfred Brendel. Ammiel performs regularly at notable venues across the world. He has appeared at the festivals of Salzburg, Bayreuth, Shanghai, Melbourne, Lucerne and Montreal.

In these uncertain times music can provide much needed solace. Although these poems were written over 200 years ago, they still speak to our current experience through the masterful settings of Schubert and Schumann.
